A Healthy Replacement for Fettuccine
April 5th, 2008
Here’s a spelling class for you…
HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU SPELL FEH-TU-CHI-NI!?

I, as usual relied on my trusty ol google.. that proved not so trusty after all! I googled ‘fetucini’ expecting a usual response to a mistype like “You mean fettuccine” or something good..but nuh uh. A whole ton of searches appear! As with fetuccine, fettucini, fetuccine, etc etc until I got to wikipedia! The correct spellin for this flippin noodle is: Fettuccine. Yep, double everything with an E at the end!
Oops….well back to the subject. Haven’t you ordered a dish of some rich italian pasta and felt absolutely sick and jelak by your 5th spoonful? Well feel sick no more! For I have found the perfect replacement for it! Healthy & light on the calories too :) not that I count them lah…but it just doesn’t make you feel sick like too much ‘real’ fettuccine.

MI SOYA! Yup for only RM1.40 or RM2 you can get a non-fattening version of a fattening dish and don’t feel gross after. The noodle itself was silky and slippery, my mom conned me into eating it with some pasta sauce by saying it was ‘organic’. Indeed! I saw the package later. haha. It was great and didn’t have a hint of tofu or soya in it!
So, I lekomend everyone to try this out. We eat way too much carbs anyway (we should stick to our Asian diet lah), why not a lighter carb with a rich sauce, hey? :D
Anyone else got conned into eating this by their moms?

My mom used to make lots of this with ‘ikan bilis’ soup… it was either this noodles or ‘mee suah’. I absolutely loved it back then and still do! Yum!

I’m with you on that! :) I was deelighted to find out it could be used with the terribly sinful Carbonara sauce!
