Oily Oily

A year ago, I discovered a real strange Italian dish. One that predominantly consisted of olive oil, among other negligible things like salt & herbs – at least that’s what I remembered.

I had such a hard time looking for a recipe of the dish on Google because I’d only heard what it was called from a friend – and never saw it written. I searched for “Oglio Oglio”, “Olio Olio”, “Weird Oily Spaghetti”, and FINALLY found that it was called Aglio Olio.

Well after making it without trying it anywhere else (okay so I did try in a mini cup at a tester booth where they were selling olive oil ^_^), I hereby christen it Oily Oily. But let me tell you, SO TASTY!

Such a welcome relief from rich, veggie and tofu. ;)

A Chinese Girl’s Take on An Oily Italian Dish

1 500g packet of spaghetti
2 tbsp celtic sea salt
1/2 or 3/4 cup olive oil
50g shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
3tbsp garlic
black pepper
loads of ‘erbs

1 boil that spaghetti for the magic 7 minutes with a lil bit of oil
2 when it’s still hot, mix in all the salt, cheese, garlic and olive oil so that the salt & cheese melts and the garlic, hmm..cooks? haha A Chinese Girl Cookig Italian’s unproven theory. mix in the black pepper and herbs and TADA.

and if you want, step 3 is to Chinese-ize it and add in..SHREDDED CRAB MEAT! Or fillament sticks. Aren’t I groovy. I know what they’re called! ;)

Meal reactions: the bro liked it! i saw him eating it. a lot of it. hahahha. the girls liked it a lot. i saw them eating it. a lot of it. ;) my mommersita said it was goood. she asked me the recipe! i tried to pretend there was one. i must stop this bad habit of making up recipes in my head. they work sometimes, thank God ;) who woulda thunk Garlic and Olive Oil would be so good!?

Best served with yummy salad. (*GASP* i said those two things in one sentence!)

More ideas to add in next time: Mushrooms, salmon (sah-men), fish fillets, red pepper flakes, parsley, turkey ham.

Can’t help churning out recipes from the back of your head? Looks like someone’s gonna publish a cookbook! I’ll be sure to get one… for my mom! Wahahha!
