…for one, they’re kinda hard to replace.

As I was washing the dishes, my brain wandered off to more important thoughts than soapy suds. As my Train of Thought was pulling off to different stations, the Thought Giver (have you ever given thought as to where thoughts actually COME from?) attached yet another thought with a paper clip and highlighted this:

Have you ever connected broadminded to “…wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it“?

This is what the world tells me & you: “Keep an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out.”

I used to think this was great. So logical, practical, appealing to common sense and downright easy. It’s a very neutral stand (and I tend to like neutral) so this train o’ thought was and still is, very appealing. But take a look at this:

Matthew 7:13, New King James
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”

Yup, ouch. Hit me in the face too!

Matthew 7:13, The Message
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.

I’m so glad we have the truth to know! It suddenly made complete sense to me. When we are questioned on judgment day, we certainly have no excuses because it was all laid out for us in the Bible.

The only reason why we don’t connect the dots is because we (I!) tend to separate the Bible so far out when it’s actually intrusive, invading and downright soul changing!

Search my heart, O God, make it ever true…

So, he’s showing me to let go of justifying some actions of mine when I read the Word. Gossiping? “We’re just discussing for prayer!” NOT. HEHE! Right!? But aiyoh your soul ain’t rested till you’ve said your piece right? Nahhh. “You don’t need to”. His gentle hand shows. Even though it hurts like heck (oops do people writing things like this say that!? haha!) to let go of these things, it’s “for the greater good.” [LOL anyone watched Hot Fuzz??]

We cannot read the Word to defend our lifestyle, the Word will change & transform the way we live.

And yet, though something makes absolutely perfect sense, we still don’t do it.

O man, thou art inexcusable!!!
Romans 2:1

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some brains to gather & stuff back in…as well as an untouched Bible laying next to my laptop.

Ugh I don’t feel like doing it. Honestly and very un-hypocritically.

EUNICE, YOU CAN DO IT!

Matthew 26:41 (King James Version)
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

The solution? Watch & pray!

Pastor Glenn Packiam. Remember when I said he knew the ANSWERS on the back of his hand? (where is that anyway!?) It was all from the LIVIN’ WORD and I had no idea it connected like that! This Word is alive. Doood! Hopefully I’ll get more in the groove with this. Remember Eunice, this WORD IS ALIVE.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow, as it judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart.
