Gorgeous Snowflake Cookies
Dear everyone,
I’ve been basically waking baking. No time to even post pictures up! I’ve made 1. Failed Macarons, 2. A Really Good Lasagne, 3. The Best Carrot-Banana Cake Ever 4. Cookies. Snowflake, Cookies.

Gorgeous snowflake cookies!
…You can’t help but fall in love with them!
Now isn’t that a surprising bake from a girl who has never seen snow in her life? “You don’t even know what it looks like!”
Precisely! I’m dying to know!!! Cos see, ladies and gentlemen. I have never seen snow in my life. But then, neither have my two dogs or my 4 siblings. I’m not sure if that counts for anything though.
Anyway! To console myself this holiday season, I went ahead and bought these gorgeous snowflake cutters that made my eyes and money pop right out. They were sitting so pretty! I wanted to go for counselling to mend my relationship with Money, but he was so fickle, he left me for another woman. :(
It’s my first cookies in forever! This is also my first time dealing with Royal Icing. My kinda icing. I am, of blue blood after all…..you know. ;-)
(Side note to bakers: I ALWAYS have a mental image of what my bakes should turn out like. For these snowflakes, from the moment I saw them on the shelf, I KNEW they had to be light blue with white decorating lines. All you lovely bakers out there — do you do this too?)

Some tips for you guys. I just followed a butter cookie recipe and used a tougher icing texture to pipe the outline and filled it with more liquidy royal icing that was good to spread. I experimented until I got a good spread. The thickness was enough so that when you filled the cookie, it wasn’t translucent. If you guys are planning to do this, use a smaller piping tip to pipe the decorating lines as you get finer detail and more control! :)
Lastly, I have to share this with you…
Guess who this symbolises:
{}:-).
…PHUA CHU KANG!!!! That’s his mole over there. The period. Heheheh! :P

Phua Chu Kang himself. {}:-).

You are right, they are gorgeous! I agree, snowflakes have to have blue and white on them because that makes them wintery–at least to me! lol!

Beautiful job!! And I do the same – I picture the finished product in my mind beforehand. And yes, snowflake cookies must be white and blue.

Juliet, thank you! I had so much fun making it. I felt it was like edible art!
Tami, lol YES! I agree, and thank you for your sweet comments! Did you know my grandmum (who also has never seen snow) suggests me to make pink snowflakes? I think it would be cute though! Ah, I need people like her to help me think out of teh box. ;-)
jayne, Thank you!! I admire your blog so much, your photography, recipes and writing is stunning! Whee visual bakers! I just realised why they must be white & blue – for the season! I was thinking more on the colour palatte train of thought, but d’oh – why of course blue & white for the season!

Banana Carrot Cake? Oh my gosh. I really despise carrot cake, but I would most likely love a carrot cake with a banana twist! I have a wonderful cream cheese icing that I used for banana pumpkin spice muffins, I bet it would be amazing on a banana carrot cake! Ok. I must have the recipe! Your cookies are outstanding by the way! I just bought mini xmas cookie cutters, I cannot wait to start baking + decorating!

Wolf Gang Diva, You do! Well actually this is a banana cake with a carrot twist! Haha, cream cheese on it is amaaaaaazing!!! I can’t wait for you to try it! I’ll post up the link with my modifications and the (very awful) picture of the banana carrot cake so you can try it out :D
And thank you! I really wish I could find mini xmas cookie cutters! Or any mini cookie cutters really! I can’t find them here in malaysia and it makes my heart sink :(
