New! Wedding Favor Boxes

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Some sweet funky jazz has been playing over at Dolce Cupcakes. Let brides and wedding planners in Kuala Lumpur & Petaling Jaya rejoice! We are excited to announce the addition of a new range of beautiful cupcake boxes for wedding favors.

Answering all your inquiries for individual boxes, we finally have found some solutions. Check out these new classy beauties:

New Wedding Packaging: Cupcake Favour Boxes with Heart Window
New Wedding Packaging: Cupcake Favour Boxes
7cm x 7 cm x 9cm, priced at RM0.80 each
(pricing is for box alone without ribbon)

Some Ways to Personalising Favor Boxes:

Ribbon. You can play with different colours, two colours, patterns (think polka dots!) or even words to give your favors a unique feel.

Labels. You can add your names and wedding dates to create a completely memorable favor. Stick on your own initials, your own message on creative colours or graphics. You can be elegant, grungey, psychedelic or totally zen.

Here are several ideas to display your individual cupcake favors at your wedding reception or party:

On a wedding tier -All ready and prettily packaged in alternating ribbon colours, place the packaged cupcake favors on a big wedding tier to create maximum impact! The guests can take one as they pass by the table, if you specify.

At the Dinner tables - Allocate the table’s portion and place them pretty at each guest’s seat!

On a cake table – Display it creatively on a cake table. after dinner, the guests can help themselves as they leave the party.

Email me so we can work out your desserts to make your wedding a truly outstanding occasion!

Cheers, everyone!

Some Cupcake Designs, Similar Thoughts & The Buttercream Creed

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Made of Fondant, Japanese Cupcakes.

back to buttercream creed: I suppose timing is a crucial matter in life. You see, last year, I bought the lovely 56 Master Wilton Piping Tip Set. I’d been wanting it for a while. But buying it at THAT very moment was very pivotal in my cupcake making life. See, looking back, it was the day I stopped designing with buttercream. Why? Because I discovered a big bag of fondant.

Made of Fondant, Elmo & Mr Monster Cookie. Sesame Street Cupcakes

Fondant has been amazing to work with. It’s play dough that makes money. It’s neat, it isn’t greasy, and most of all you don’t have to deal with piping bags.

Made of Fondant, Kimono Cupcakes. Aren’t they adorable?

Did I say no piping bags? Maybe I didn’t say it loud enough…Fondant = No Piping Bags!!!

no grease, no changing piping bags (yay!), no mixing colours & having left overs, no waiting for the butter to soften, no piping bags popping on you…

Yes. Isn’t that unbelievable? It’s no wonder then that because Fondant looked so much better, and because I didn’t need to deal with them piping bags, that I gradually shifted my whole focus to fondant. It’s been a lovely time, but also a very time-consuming well, time.

although when using fondant, there are other things to give up – pretty nails.

Roses Minicake & Cupcakes. (There are rewards when your gramma orders from you, you get to experiment!)

And, I also had my Master Wilton Tip Set costing only RM221 and “sen ten only” sitting in my cupboard. I had heart wrenching feelings well up inside, looking at my poor baby, underused and underappreciated.

Made of Fondant, Rich Man’s cupcakes (lol, what a name).

So what, is the purpose of this post, you say? Well, it’s my documentation on getting back to buttercream. And using all the tips of my Master Wilton Piping Set!

(Could the reason half be that all the stores are out of fondant & making my own marshmallow fondant from SCRATCH builds biceps?)

[note: yes I did it - make MMF from scratch - last week! i made the marshmallows, but didn't let them harden. it worked like this: i followed the MM recipe, didn't let it go through the hardening process & followed cakejournal.com's Marshmallow Fondant recipe - since this required melting the MM, I didn't even bother letting it harden! haha. VERY elastic! loved it! you guys should try it too!]

Rose Minicake

And where were we again? Right, my unwavering focus has enabled me to remember haha…the back to buttercream creed!

I pledge allegiance, to my piping tips
Right till the end, when my piping bag rips
To hold, handle and cherish with care
And think of designs
For my cupcakes to wear.

Yeah also. Will. Not. Touch. Fondant. Will only tile 3 designs. Will find perfect buttercream that’s stiff. Will experiment. Will make meringue buttercream.

BTW. I’ve seen some nice grass designs, but I suspect it isn’t in my tip stash. Well I would love to use a tip in my master wilton set – hopefully it’s in there – or else I’ll just drop by ICCA & buy it (haha, said very nonchalantly, since you know…I can drive! :D Yes I got my license last week!)

A Purple 25th Miniature Dessert Cupcake Set: Live, Laugh, Love, Eat Dessert.

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

Live, laugh, love; always eat dessert.
Perfect for a 25th birthday mm hmm?

This set of cupcakes & cake were ordered by the lovely Joey for her friend Jamie’s 25th. Jamie loves dessert, and what girl doesn’t? So we decided to incorporate some of that dessert-lovin’ on to the cupcakes themself. Oh sorry, give me a second, I have something my inner man wants to let out: AREN’T THEY ADORABLE!?!?!?!?!

Lol okay! Now that we have freed that, on to business! The cake was plain and pretty, a chocolate smothered dream with moist chocolate cake inside. The cupcakes were all chocolate too.

Now, what I love about this is the balance of elements. It’s not too cluttered, not too plain. And isn’t Roxy’s live, laugh & love statement so rusty , husky and real? :) A nice balance, I feel, and most importantly: we do not overdo on desserts.

Right?

;-)

I’m sure you agree with me.

Too much of a good thing, can happen. ;-)

Right? ;-)

Stumble It!
