Eyebags? Nah. It’s just the mascara..

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Maybe not…but 5 hours of sleep may be enough for some, but not for me! I’m balancing my life between my Wee Wonderful Heavenly Book called my Bible, this blog, baking, taking orders, driving lessons and work.

Eyes are so beautiful. I love eyes. Most expressive (and potentially unexpressive) part of you.

WORK. Now work is good, incredibly good at making you feel useful, but also very tiring. See, I used to bum around at home during the holidays. Nothing’s really changed. Now I just have to wake up early every morning to bum around in the office.

“Hey what’re you doing?” “Oh I’m just working hard—ly” Hehehehehe. JUST KIDDING. The first few weeks were boring and filled with facebook. But since last week it’s been escalating! I even brought work back to do! I promise myself I’ll never do that again.

Anyway! I went ROCK CLIMBING! My body is sore and aching from doing not very much rock climbing and a lot of resting. Hehe. Thanks J, M & R! You guys are now officially J, M & R cos ever since I watched Eagle Eye I’m all about internet privacy. Err. Yeah. Right!?

Glenn Packiam
Last week, Glenn Packiam came by our church for Worship Seminar. Instead of being treated to aolian scales, jazz chords or the blues scale, he transferred heaps of gold to me. Well ok, to everyone…but sometimes it’s nice to think you’re special. Ahem.

Aren’t they the cutest family??

I’m really refreshed. As he preached I had a huge hunger gnawing for the WORD. I wanted to know why he knew God like he did, His character, the way He thinks, how He works, and this Glenn guy was just a fountain full of God’s Word!

I carry around everyday a Bible but never read it. Man this has changed. And I can see how it’s affected my week — the skies didn’t turn bluer or the grass greener, but my soul felt nourished. (it WAS! did I mention a 3 day fast & prayer my church had?? learnt SO MUCH!). Facing the day is now so much easier, and exciting when I eat my Soul Food every morning. My poor soul, it’s been so malnourished!

I wondered how it could be that the Bible could be so alive. And I actually have access to all of it!!! I really desire to know it as much as Mr Packy-yam does.

Some excerpts:

Old Testament: temple, priest, sacrifice = New Testament: Jesus = US! We are the temple of the Holy Spirit, a royal priesthood, offer ourselves a pleasing sacrifice, holy & acceptable” – see how he opened up the word & made it all make sense?

“Don’t use a cart. Don’t live on borrowed, second hand faith. Find Him yourself.”
- David used a cart to transport the Ark cos he copied the philistines. USE THE REAL THANG! Hard times will test this. If you have lived on borrowed faith, you’ll say “all this stuff I’ve believed in for so long isn’t true!” and, turn away. But no, say this instead “it’s time I got to know my God, God of the universe & my problems, a whole load better!”

“1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, rest.”
– The Long Ignored Secret: Sabbath

“True Worship: your life consistent with your worship – if not, God “hates your new moon festivals aka fundraisers, church events etc etc” if your life does not reflect your sunday morning best.

Well nothing always stays on a high. After the conference (and week where I practically went to church everyday), I opened my Bible to read….2 Kings. Like, WHAT!? I was so confused. God, I’m pumped to read your scripture and…it was about Elisha?? Without going into it too much, from confusion I went to understanding and.. rhema. Now i understand why we sing “I love you Holy Spirit”!

Specifically Ambiguous Tips
Work tip #1: If there’s a template you have & you gotta keep modifying it, list the steps in the folder’s name. It’ll save you paper and heart ache.

Work tip #2: Create a “Temporary” folder where you store items you’ll trash after 3 months – nuff time to know if they’re necessary, needed or nawt! It’ll also keep your computer neat. Arrange your stuff by date too!

Work tip #3: Have a work notebook. Scribble everything the boss tells you to do. Believe me, you’ll forget if you don’t.

Blog tip #1: Label all your pix by date. For example: “081112-pumpkinsoup-01.jpg”. That’s what I’ve just begun to do. I mean, how long can you blog for and search for pix like “chocolatecake1.jpg” and go on living!?! Learnt this handy tip from Niki of Delicious Days. I just right clicked to see how the pros did it ;-)

Some Chatter on Batter
Next…BAKING. I love this like crazy! I wanted to come up with a Christmas cupcake set & a Christmas cookie set. But work is really bogging me down and I’m not even sure if I can commit to baking this december. Arrrgh right!?!?

But should I??

And one last thing, cos a post without pictures is like a man without a beard:

Upcoming cupcake designs for the press co!

Night yall!

Just Ring A Little Longer

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Sounds like the title of a song huh? Nahh. Just a friendly service reminder to everyone out there: just hang on to your phones when ringing me!

Sadly & tragically (a phrase my pastor says all the time! hahaha. its so cute he’s got all these phrases he says all the time that botox his sentences. no awkward pauses with him!), people have been downing the phone by the 5th or 6th ring. This doesn’t give me enough time to fish the phone out of where I’ve kept it, assess if I want to take the call (just kidding), or pick it up on time. So for the good of mankind, just ring a little longer!

Here are my reasons:

  • The phone may be in the bag. By far, the commonest excuse. Amen ladies? But, hello skirts don’t have pockets! And some pants don’t do their priestly duty of having a pocket either. Sigh, pants oh pants.
  • I may not (won’t) call you back. Sorreh. If I don’t know what it’s about, I’m just gonna text – or wait for you to call back. “Why Eunice you so liddat?” Well see.. I’m on some expensive phone plan to save money. Haha, what!? But the phone rental is RM10, and my next best option is RM50 a month (I’ve been keeping under this! YAY! This month I just shaved under it…haha. Well, I gotta stick by my pa’s rules) But seriously, this bondage is very mafan. I wished tel-cos were free like Taiwan! THEN I’ll have no more problems.
  • It’s charging. You know how you sprint all the way from the garden to your room and it stops ringing..AND you can’t call back cos your dad has made it very clear NOT to make calls? Yeah! stinks. very stressful.

Completely Unrelated #1: At the office last week, I realised something I do that is so dangerously lethal to my own dignity. I sing…or hum…along to things way too much. Unconsciously. We have this old printer used for just one process (whatever bloats her float!) and when activated, it makes a curious singing noise like “det DEEEEEEEEEEET det…det DEEEEEEET det…deet deet det” and it’s got a really cool rhythm & all that. Well yeah you guessed it, who in the world grooves to the sweet buzzing hum of the printer???

(I only got it when people started laughing. Is this abnormal? This harmonising with the printer?)

Completely unrelated #2: My TWD arborio rice pudding burnt. I’m going to take some fancy pictures, cry, disguise it up with some fruits, cry some more, make someone eat it, cry, or throw it away. …No I was kidding about crying.

Completely Related #1: On the deeper side, things have been fermenting in my brain but I haven’t written them out, mostly in splurts, but never in full, or ever in the blog – you sit in front of Write Post and feel incredibly lazy. I’m not a big writer but I’ve found the reason: I Am A Pro At Wasting Time. And one more thing. Top reason: In’nernet. Solution: Cut out in’ernet = more fruitful time spent finishing books, doing things I need to do… = OUCH! Lord if this is what you want me to do, help me cos I am seriously addicted! Confession. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. But Lord help me kill my ‘old man’. With the mercy I have undeserving, amen. :)

Romans 6:6
“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”

Completely Related #2: I’ve been going to church every single flipping day for the past one week and weirdly… I love it! Now I can’t wait to be applying what I’ve learnt. Ouch. That meant I have to be asleep…like now. 2.23am. But I also wanted to say that I’m so amazed we serve a deeply personal God who takes us through difficult situations to experience Him. Experience Him 24 hours = your whole life. Experiencing him at work, at the kitchen table, in the LRT, on the computer…(now the last one I have no idea!?)

#1 Goal for tomorrow: GET TO soaking up in His word & in Him before driving at 9am. (i have all that time to kill, oh thank Him for grace abounding! haha..i have a grace period of 2.25am to 8am to sleep…instead of 7. hey 1 hour makes a difference!)

#2 the message translation for the bible is great!

Isaiah 1:14
“I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me; I am weary of bearing them.

Want to know why? Stay tuned.

#3 (sorry I keep editing this thang) Isn’t it funny how we always try to avoid being annoying? At least, afraid lah. Maybe being annoying has it’s purpose. Not in the childish sense…but being persistent… (sorry people I will form my thoughts before blogging next time. hee haw.)

Jeremiah 33:3
Call unto Me and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things that thou knowest not.
